Easter weekend

Pappa and his bunnies!

We've had a lovely Easter weekend with lots of various things happening.... let me tell you chronologically:

On Friday we "celebrated" Good Friday and just stayed at home. We remembered what happened at the cross. In the late afternoon we went for a swim at Badeland which was quite nice.

On Saturday it was John (my godchild)'s birthday. I baked a "Pirate ship" cake and at 3pm we went over (next door). It was a raging 5 year old boy's birthday party. But Josephine enjoyed it and took part very nicely. Only 1 little incident where a big, but young dog (same height as her) was sprinting full speed in chase after another dog it was playing with...and ran straight into Josephine. She literally went flying. Was quite shocked, cried a while, but forgave the dog and carried on.

tired of waiting in the queue for face painting :-)

On Sunday we managed to get to a church service here in Gifhorn. The pastor spoke very well and it was very encouraging. The whole weekend, we remembered, spoke about and explained the true meaning of Easter. The best part is that Jesus is alive and preparing a place for those who believe in Him in heaven. Exciting actually!
Of course, we did the little Easter egg hunt. While Michael and Josephine went to get the breakfast rolls from the bakery, I quickly hid the eggs in the garden and put some flour bunny footprints on the driveway. When they came home, her eyes were huge and bright blue: "Mamma, Mamma!! The Easter bunny was here while we went to the bakery! Mamma! Come! Look!!!" So her and Pappa each got a little "bunny bag" to fill. She was very kind and shared the eggs out very fairly...was so cute.

the bunny stopped at our house too - look at his prints!

In the afternoon, Michael's cousins Dirk and Angie came around from Uelzen. It was lovely to see them. I baked a cake with some little eggs and a chicken to decorate on top. We had a nice time also looking at their wedding photos again from last year. Michael, Dirk and Josephine went for a walk while Angie and I chatted and played with Evie.

And today (Monday) we pottered around in the garden. Michael cleaned the gutters out of old leaves, cut down some dead branches off trees. In the afternoon we went around to our neighbours again for Bernd's 44th birthday.

Now we're tucked up in bed and I'm ready to sleep right away! Going to still read a bit and then switch off.
